NewsPix is a Chrome browser extension conceived by myself and Matt Carroll (Director of the Future of News Initiative at the MIT Media Lab). NewsPix delivers news photos and stories straight to your browser. Every time a reader clicks the “new tab” button on your browser, a new local news picture appears, with a link to a story. Small and local news organizations are the target clients for NewsPix. They set up an instance of NewsPix to drive engagement in a world where most readers get their news through social media feeds. NewsPix is currently being piloted with the Keene Sentinel Source in New Hampshire.
